I find that I tend to describe Cranio-Sacral Therapy differently to different people depending on what their actual problem is.
To some, I talk about cranial and vertebral bone problems causing blockages, affecting fluid flow, causing illness etc. To others, I describe the energy flowing within and around their body (or not) and how this is affecting their health. To others, I outline how past injuries or experiences have somehow become trapped within their systems and are causing problems. At other times, I might talk about how their own negative self talk is stopping them from achieving good health. On rarer occasions, I might talk about how other people in their lives are adversely affecting them.
Craniosacral therapy helps me to feel all of the above in and around people's bodies, and much more. I use my hands to help the body become aware of the root causes of an illness and sometimes this is enough to radically change a physical or emotional problem - the body seems to do the rest.
I tend to describe as much as possible what I feel in people's systems because I like people to take responsibility for their own health. I want them to understand what's going on, and what they have to do to change it. I don't believe any alternative therapy can work for people who just want someone else to make them better. They might feel better in the short term but their illness, or a different one, will always come back.
Taking responsibility is the only way towards better health and I think craniosacral therapy is one of the best ways of kickstarting this process.
Treating babies is usually a joy. A baby has less life behind them and so fewer experiences, learned behaviours and physical patterns which might otherwise stop them getting better. Most problems are associated with difficult births (even if it didn't seem that difficult at the time), or perhaps a difficult pregnancy. Babies are so intent on developing and gaining perfect health that improvements are often seen straight away with treatment and they generally last for ever.
